Practise against Destiny HERO

By YGO Lab3 min read

Destiny HERO links its Field Spell, graveyard resources and Fusion Monsters into several different threats. Learn what each part does and test your responses against its current TCG practice list.

The engine behind the Fusion Monsters

The new cards connect several older Destiny HERO resources. Destiny HERO - Doom Overlord can send a Destiny HERO from the Deck to the Graveyard and find the Field Spell Dark City at Midnight. City searches Destiny HERO - Dreadnought Servant. Servant can summon itself from the hand, destroy a card its controller owns and find Polymerization.

Destroying City is useful because it has another effect: it can summon a Destiny HERO from the Deck, treating that summon as one performed by Clock Tower Prison. That treatment matters for Destiny HERO - Dreadmaster. Dreadmaster can revive more Destiny HERO monsters, then become Destiny HERO - Dreadnought Master through the Fusion Monster's Tribute procedure. Dreadnought Master searches two suitable cards and changes its ATK with the other Destiny HERO resources on the field and in the Graveyard.

This practice list also uses Fusion Destiny, which can supply Fusion Materials directly from the hand or Deck. The card starts a different route into the same resource pool. Its restriction applies after resolution: subsequent Special Summons that turn must be DARK HERO monsters. Resolving Overlord's ignition effect creates a similar Attribute restriction. Those restrictions are part of the combo, not details to ignore after the first Fusion appears.

Read the effects that remain on the board

The threats do different jobs. Destroyer Phoenix Enforcer, usually called DPE, can destroy a card its controller owns and another card on the field. Its destruction trigger can arrange a Destiny HERO revival at the next turn's Standby Phase. Using DPE as material or Tributing it does not count as destroying it.

Plasma negates opposing face-up monster effects while its continuous effect applies. D - Force adds protection and another attack to Plasma while also preventing its controller's Draw Phase draw. Removing Plasma or the Continuous Spell changes that position; it is not the same as removing one expendable combo body.

Destro-Dogma has a summon procedure using three eligible Graveyard banishes. A successful use of its summon trigger schedules damage in the next Standby Phase. Its other effect can Fusion Summon in response to an opponent's activation, recycling materials from specified locations. You should inspect which materials remain before deciding what that response can produce.

The Extra Deck also includes Contrast HERO Chaos, which targets a face-up card to negate its effects, and Masked HERO Dark Law, which changes the destination of opposing cards that would enter the Graveyard. Neither performs the same job as DPE. Counting the large monsters is less useful than identifying the effects, costs and legal response windows they actually have.

Where an interruption changes the line

The timing of a hand trap matters. Overlord's Deck send is a cost, so negating its search does not return the sent monster to the Deck. Fusion Destiny sends its materials while resolving the Fusion effect instead. If that effect is negated before resolution, those materials were not paid as an activation cost.

City's search and its destruction trigger are separate effects. Stopping the search does not automatically remove the Field Spell, and destroying the Field Spell can create a summon rather than finish the exchange. Dreadmaster's protection concerns destruction; it does not prevent every Tribute, banish or return effect.

A resolved Fuwalos changes the value of further Deck and Extra Deck summons. Droll restricts additions from the Main Deck to the hand, which changes search-heavy continuations. Neither card means that every remaining action is forbidden. Practice the position after the interruption has resolved, with the effects already used and costs already paid still accounted for.

The Main, Extra and Side Deck below are the same inventory offered by this preset. It is built for the TCG list effective October 19, 2026: one Droll across all three Deck sections, and no Called by the Grave, Crossout Designator or Triple Tactics Talent. This is a practice build, with a pure Destiny HERO core and a Masked HERO package; it does not silently include every card from a larger Omni HERO build.

Recorded openings provide reproducible examples. Different drawn resources, resolved restrictions and opposing actions can require the Rival to choose another continuation. The course explains those boundaries; engine verification alone does not establish tournament results or a model's playing strength.
